When you start looking for refrigerators, you will notice that there are various types of refrigerators that cater to certain needs, style and convenience. The most common types are bottom mount, top mount, French door and side-by-side. In this blog, we're comparing a side-by-side and a french door refrigerator.

Side-By-Side Refrigerator
As the name would suggest, a side-by-side refrigerator has the freezer and the main fridge next to each other. This is a great choice for someone who consumes a mix of fresh and frozen foods. It gives you more door bin space so you can organize your food the way you like. You can also put the foods you consume the most in the middle to access it easily. One big complaint about side-by-side refrigerators is that it doesn't leave much width for either the refrigerator or freezer. For example, it is harder to accommodate big party platters or frozen pizzas because of narrow storage space.

French Door Refrigerator
French doors are great for people who eat a lot of fresh food as there is plenty of room to store fresh fruits and veggies. Their full width storage space can accommodate bigger platters, pizzas and satisfy all types of storage needs. The fresh food areas are at eye level and therefore super easy to access. The freezer is below you and easy to access as well. Another great advantage of French door refrigerators is that it makes your kitchen look bigger because the double door design uses the best features of a side-by-side model i.e. narrow doors that don't swing too much.

Ultimately, it depends on your consumption (fresh vs. frozen), whether you host a lot of parties (big platters vs. smaller items) and of course your kitchen layout. Browse refrigerators here or stop by any of our locations to talk to a Product Specialisthere.
